Regardless of what Las Vegas trade show venue your convention is at, there’s no need to be stuck inside. In addition to all the casinos to visit and live performances to see on the infamous Strip, Sin City offers some gorgeous public parks. These green spaces are scenic oases in the Nevada desert—and they’re not only free, but they’re also within a short drive from the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC).

Lorenzi Park

Experience some Las Vegas history and a whole lot of fun at Lorenzi Park, which is less than a 15-minute drive from the LVCC. For decades, this public area has served as a haven for locals and visitors thanks to a long list of amenities such as:

  • A beautiful pond (you can fish there if you purchase a license)
  • The Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza
  • A sprawling picnic area
  • A band shell where you can hear some live music

This park is on the Las Vegas Historic Property Register and the Nevada State Register of Historic Places, so if you only get to visit one park during your Las Vegas trade show, make it this one.

Rainbow Family Park

After a couple of long days on the show floor, you might want to just relax in a 26-acre public park with lots of open areas, greenery, and seating. Rainbow Family Park to the rescue! Bring along your colleagues and play a game of horseshoes, pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic, or, if you’re feeling really ambitious, work out in the fitness court. Whatever your speed, you’ll be glad you visited this place.

Gary Reese Freedom Park

Less than 20 minutes from the Las Vegas Convention Center, you can let yourself get lost in the 68-acre Gary Reese Freedom Park. This public area is built for pure enjoyment. Here are a few of the amenities:

  • A huge pool with a water slide and seating in the shade
  • A scenic walking path
  • Barbeque grills
  • Sporting areas like volleyball courts, a disc golf field, and baseball and softball fields

Gary Reese Freedom Park also features a ton of open space, so you can settle down on a bench or throw down a blanket and soak up some sun while you’re on a break from the show floor.

Downtown Container Park

Alright, this one is more of a unique dining and shopping area than a public green space—but since it’s only about a 10-minute drive from the LVCC and has some really fun amenities, you should still check it out if you have time.

One of the first things you’ll see when you arrive at Downtown Container Park is the giant Mantis. And “giant” might be an understatement! This bug is 40 feet tall and 30 feet wide, and its antennae blast flames 60 feet in the air. Be sure to get to the park before sundown, when the Mantis performs its daily show.

After you’ve scampered past the Mantis and deeper into the park, you can sit on The Lawn and enjoy the fresh air. If you’re lucky enough, there might be a free concert scheduled for that evening! Since there are over a dozen restaurants in the park and a long list of shopping boutiques, you can stick around until the park closes at 11pm.
